What
does it mean to be a Christian SEO?

We are SEO’s.  We are also
Christians.  We want our friends and customers to understand who we are
and why we do things the way we do.  Here is a list of ways that knowing
Jesus impacts our business – nine answers to the question, “What does it mean
to be a Christian SEO?”

  1. It means that we do
everything whole-heartedly.  Whatever work we have to do, Christ has
given to us.  As we enthusiastically and faithfully review websites
and write lines of HTML code, we bring honour to Him.

  1. It does not mean that we
are automatically the best SEO’s in the world.  God has given talent
and abilities to all men, not just Christians.  Some are gifted more
    than us.
  1. It means we keep our
word.  Jesus never lied to anyone and as his followers, He enables us
to be like Him.  When we agree to something, either online, in a
contract, or verbally, it means that we will do what we say.  We will
never try to deceive people into thinking that we are saying something
    other than what we are.

  1. It does not mean that
our business will prosper.  All things belong to God and he
distributes the wealth of the world as he sees fit.  He has never
failed to provide all that we need.  He is the source of all
happiness with much or with very little.
  1. It means that we keep
the law.  The civil authorities are the ministers of God for the
execution of justice in the world.  We will not break these laws for
the advancement of our business.  This would be breaking the laws of
    God.

  1. It does not mean that we
are perfect.  Though we are daily being made more like Jesus, we
continue to fail.  We will make things right as soon as we can.
Thanks to Jesus who allows failing men to have an uninterruptible
    relationship with a holy God!
  1. It means that we seek
peace in relationships.  Some friction is inevitable in
business.  We will seek to make peace with all as far as it depends
    on us.
  1. It doesn’t mean being
wimpy.  People often misunderstand what it means to be a
Christian.  We don’t give away things for free to everyone who
asks.  We don’t allow suppliers or clients to cheat us out of our
rightful profits.  We are not shocked or intimidated by the attitudes
    and actions of others.

  1. We will not promote
anything that serves a blatantly and solely immoral purpose.  We will
not SEO a pornography site, for example.  As we serve Jesus in all
that we do, we cannot promote something that he hates.  Many sites,
like the web itself, can be used for both moral and immoral purposes and
we will gladly work on these.  For the sake of our consciences,
however, we do reserve the right to refuse any work on moral grounds.
